Remembering Durga Puja 2009

The countdown has begun for ensuing Durga Puja 2010. In this occasion let us have a quick stroll down memory lane recollecting Durga Puja 2009. It was a new experience for all in DCW while we celebrated the worship of Devi Durga, there was plenty of fun.

We remember the Mahalaya day, after we turned on the sound system announcing the ending of Pitri Paksha (literally "fortnight of the ancestors") by immortal recitation of Birendra Krishna Bhadra, slowly we started gathering in front of Tower 3 and 4. After some chit chat (and leg pulling) I along with Senpati_da, Talukdar, Bagchi, Sourav etc. went for a morning tea from Surya.

After idol came in Panchami, there were lots of activities. A group went to Kalighat to hire Dhaki including our Jagai Madhai (Bagchi & Talukdar) and Laurel Hardy (both the joint secretaries – G. S. Singh and G. P Senapati). “Dhaker tale komor nache” was associated by an initiative from Talukdar which stops Senapati_da wearing bermuda publicly.

Bagchi made the time memorable for few of us using his past association with IFB (nothing official about it), but indeed few others remember the time for a long time (out of frustration!) making it a political agenda in every community meeting.

It was a splendid cultural evening where I played in a key role in a Sruti Natak. Other participants were my wife Munmun, our neighbor (Somnath_da & Mala boudi), Mrs. Sinha (Roni’s mother) and Mrs. Chatterjee (Chirantan’s mother). It was initiated and directed by Mrs. Chatterjee.

One day there was Bhajan Sandhya, which may nit be relevant in Durga Puja, but we all enjoyed with a spirit of cosmopolitan society. Dokania_ji, Bhatter_da & Mehta_ji were really active.

Committee (lead by Somnath_da, Gouri_da and Senapati_da) put a hard effort to collect subscriptions and sponsorship and could arrange subsidized lunch on Maha Saptami, Maha Astami and Mana Nabami. I went with Ajmer Singh and Khan Khan Da (Arunmoy Khan) to collect most of the vegetables from Dhulagarh. It was a thrilling experience being driven by Ajmer Singh.

On the final day we had a gala dinner. We all enjoyed and relished the food even if there were very few who simply wasted food or had an impulsive fight over silly issues. Gala dinner were well attended (both veg and non-veg sections). Few people indeed worked round the clock.

Wish a GRAND Durga Puja 2010 to all our fellow residents with more fun and enjoyment.

Common Interest

Dear All
First of all thanks to our existing elected committee members for their continuous effort even in an adverse situation intentionally created by some people to make the diamond city more beautiful and sitable to live in. In my opinion we all should act for the following common interests
  1. Fencing
  2. Beautification of Lake
  3. More equipment in gym and regular maintenance of the same. Recently there is no regular maintenance. Two machines (viz. walker and multigym) are not fuctioning properly.
  4. Follow up of the rest of the amenities for which we all had paid to the promoter.

Lastly I would like to appreciate the brilliant idea of our committee members to invite all interested residents to contribute for various events in puja and thanks to the residents who come forward for the same.

However I personally feel bad when I came to know some of our residents till today did not pay their subscription inspite of repeated requests by the committee members.

Bye. Happy Puja.

Club in DCW

Few people (in my view few, a few, very few with severe identity crisis) comes up with some innovative (destructive) concept utilising the GAP between the expectations and reality.

It is true whoever will work in a society will commit mistake. Moreover none is GOD, hence even after best possible trial, something may not be achieved.

I noticed recently whenever DCW-SDC plans some event this Club comes up with a opposite proposal, which never gets materialised, but waste considerable times.

In last General Meeting, Poddar (T-4) and Sujoy Sinha (T-7) announced they did so many miracles after negotiating with builder like:

1. Diagnostics Centre being open in 15 days (i.e. 15th August)
2. Lake will be up and running
3. Community Hall charge is reduced to 5,000/- before 1st August
and many more.

Some ladies were sitting in front rows just clapping everything announced and shouting at others whenever any common residents question or ask clarification.

We agree the present committee could do better job, but whether we should allow such parallel entities in our premises to fight with an elected committee?

When investigated later Sinha was never available and Poddar finally agreed that some announcements were not final and needs to follow up. Then another question who authorises these group to negotiate with builders on behalf of all residents? Otherwise is there any personal or group interest? Why things are announced spoiling a serious general meeting when those are baseless?

Finally when we knock every door to collect subscriptions, few of them offered part subscription or some claims themselves as deemed president / secretary of the Club and declined the subscription.

Tower 11!!

Friends,

There is a rumour about Tower 11. As we learned while our representatives met DCW promoters, they even accepted the fact that there is a plan in their mind.

Post the meeting there is different political activities inside DCW with various claims like:

- few are claiming that some people are purchased

- few are going to meet promoters without any acceptance from general residents

- few are negotiating with builders and buying more units inside DCW and other diamond group projects in a special rate

- few are telling promoters has withdrawn the plan for Tower 11 as they force to implement STP

- few are telling since STP is under construction the connector between Tower 10 and Tower 1 will be removed to facilitate fire safety and thus helping Tower 11

- few are claiming as per new KMC rule promoters are supposed to build another tower

Please submit your views about this.

Partha
